MDR services for Microsoft environments
Microsoft MDR service
Strengthen endpoint and identity security
Cyber attacks often start with compromised endpoints or user identities.
Chorus MDR services provide 24/7 monitoring, investigation and response across devices, servers and identities, helping small and medium-sized organisations running Microsoft 365 detect threats earlier and reduce the impact of cyber security incidents.
Delivered through the Chorus SOC, our MDR service gives you an expert cyber security capability, whether you have an internal IT team or use our managed IT services.
Managed Microsoft security
MDR services built on Microsoft security
Chorus delivers MDR services through our dedicated Microsoft-verified 24/7 SOC, helping organisations that already use Microsoft technologies, such as Microsoft 365 and Azure to reduce risk and strengthen their cyber security.
We combine expert security analysts, threat intelligence, threat hunting and Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sentinel and Entra ID to help organisations strengthen protection across endpoints and users.
As a member of Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), Chorus is part of a select group of security partners globally, recognised by Microsoft for specialist expertise and capabilities.
Microsoft Defender Managed Services
Compare our MDR and MXDR services
Our MDR service focuses on endpoints and identities, providing 24/7 monitoring, investigation and response through our SOC. It’s built on Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Entra ID, so if you’re already running Microsoft 365 Business Premium, much of the technology is already in place. For organisations that need broader protection, our MXDR tier provides more coverage across your wider IT estate.

Benefits of our managed detection and response service
Many organisations want 24/7 security monitoring, incident response and Security Operations Centre (SOC) expertise but don’t have the resources to build and run a security team internally. Our managed detection and response (MDR) service provides an outsourced SOC capability for Microsoft environments, helping you strengthen cyber security while reducing the workload on your IT team.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
-
What is MDR?
MDR stands for Managed Detection and Response. Our MDR service is a 24/7 service that monitors, investigates and responds to cyber security threats across your endpoints (including devices and servers) and identities, delivered by our Security Operations Centre (SOC).
-
What does Chorus MDR include?
Chorus MDR provides 24/7 monitoring, investigation, threat hunting and incident response across user identities, credentials, end-user devices, Windows servers and authentication activity. The service is delivered through our SOC using Microsoft security technologies and experienced security analysts.
-
What's the difference between MDR and MXDR?
Our MDR service focuses on endpoints and identities. Our MXDR service extends that to your wider IT environments, including cloud services, infrastructure, networking devices and additional data sources.
Firewall and network log sources aren’t included as standard with MDR, but they’re available as a paid add-on, whereas MXDR includes them as standard. Organisations that need broader security coverage often choose MXDR.
You can download our Chorus MDR vs MXDR comparison sheet to compare the two service tiers in detail, while our our EDR vs XDR vs MDR vs MXDR article explains how these different technologies and services relate.
-
Which Microsoft technologies are used within Chorus MDR services?
Chorus MDR uses Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Sentinel to monitor, investigate and respond to threats affecting users and endpoints. These technologies are supported by 24/7 monitoring, threat hunting, threat intelligence and analyst-led response.
-
What Microsoft licences do I need for Chorus MDR services?
Many organisations already have the foundations needed for Chorus MDR services through Microsoft 365 Business Premium and above, which includes Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Entra ID.
We also use Microsoft Sentinel, which is billed by data ingestion volume. We’ll review your existing licensing and recommend any changes only where they’re needed.
-
How much does MDR cost?
Pricing is a per-user, per-month cost. Get in touch and we can give you a clear figure for your organisation, including licensing recommendations.
-
Can I move from MDR to MXDR later?
Yes. Many organisations begin with MDR to strengthen protection for endpoints, and identities, then move to MXDR when they need wider visibility across infrastructure, cloud services, networking devices and additional data sources. We can help you choose the right service based on your current requirements and future plans.
-
Is Chorus MDR suitable for organisations using Microsoft 365 Business Premium?
Yes, MDR is often a good fit for organisations using Microsoft 365 Business Premium, because the service can use security tooling already included within the licence. This helps organisations strengthen security without significant additional investment in security tooling, and can even help you consolidate tools and reduce costs by removing third-party security products which overlap.
-
How do you handle and retain our data?
All data stays within your own Microsoft tenant and region. We apply least-privilege access and don’t use third-party agents to collect it. Logs are retained for 12 months, and data related to a specific incident is enriched and available for up to 30 days to support investigation and reporting.

Where do you deliver MDR services?
Headquartered in the South West of England as a Bristol-based business, Chorus delivers MDR services remotely to organisations across the UK and internationally. Our 24/7 SOC supports customers regardless of location, providing continuous threat monitoring, investigation and response wherever your teams operate.
