Microsoft to retire the Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit Fundraising & Engagement Accelerator in 2026

This week Microsoft have announced that they will be retiring the Microsoft for Cloud Fundraising and Engagement solution on 31st December 2026. This solution is a pre-built accelerator to help nonprofits and charities to use Microsoft Dynamics 365 for fundraising and donation management.

What’s happening?

For organisations using the accelerator, support will still be available until 31 December 2026 with critical security updates, but there will be no more product enhancements. Licensing for new customers remains available until 31 December 2024 but will then no longer be available – however, we would not recommend moving to the solution that is going to retire.

Microsoft is committed to providing affordable and relevant technology and skilling to nonprofit organizations worldwide. As we continue to innovate and enhance our technology offerings, we’re making strategic updates to our suite of solutions. Microsoft will continue providing necessary security updates but won’t make other enhancements to Fundraising and Engagement.

What do you need to do?

If you are currently using the Microsoft Fundraising and Engagement Nonprofit accelerator, you will need to consider how you manage moving from the solution so that you do not come out of support and important security updates in 2027.

While Microsoft are retiring the solution, they are still keen to support nonprofits on their Microsoft journey and are instead favouring partner-built solutions to manage fundraising, donations, memberships and more. Developing and implementing CRM systems is no simple task so by working with a partner-built solution and a strategic partner, you can better meet complex requirements and ensure long-term success.

Evo 365 – our nonprofit accelerator

We have a nonprofit accelerator, Evo 365, that is not built on the Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit and therefore not impacted. For existing Evo 365 customers, this update has no impact to you or your system. If you are using the Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofits and would like to see how Evo 365 could support you as your charity CRM when moving from Microsoft’s accelerator, you can find out more about Evo 365 on our website, contact us with any questions, or book a demo.
