Microsoft have just launched a new Copilot license specifically for small and medium businesses. Copilot for Business is aimed at companies with less than 300 staff, offering a discounted price compared to Microsoft 365 Copilot but with all the same functionality. Here are the most commonly asked questions to help you understand this new SKU.

What’s the difference between Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot for Business?

Nothing – except the cost! Copilot for Business has all the same features for Microsoft 365 Copilot. This includes:

• All the features of free Copilot Chat
• Copilot available within Microsoft 365 apps – using your organisations data
• Enterprise-grade security and privacy controls – your data remains in your control
• Create agents within Copilot Studio

How much does Copilot for Business cost?

We only have USD pricing currently – Copilot for Business costs $21 per user per month, compared to Microsoft 365 Copilot which is $30 per user per month.

Are there any prerequisites for Copilot for Business?

Users will need to have a Microsoft 365 Business license (Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium) and have less than 300 staff. These are the only requirements.

Can I use Copilot for free?

There is a free version of Copilot available to anyone with a Microsoft 365 license called Copilot Chat. Copilot Chat is a brilliant way to start using Copilot an understand it – the key difference from paid versions is that it uses web data and does not use data from within your organisation (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive etc). I have Microsoft 365 Copilot, can I switch?

If you are using Microsoft 365 Business licences and have fewer than 300 staff then moving to Copilot for Business is a no brainer for the cost savings. Unfortunately, you cannot switch mid-term, but once your annual commitment has finished you can move to the licence. If you are on monthly commitments, you can switch monthly.
